Medical Disclaimer
Effective Date: 16.08.2026 Version: 1
1. Important Notice
Pelva (“Pelva,” the “App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is designed solely as a general wellness, fitness, and educational tool for adults.
The App does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, or emergency medical services. Nothing in the App is intended to replace consultation, examination, diagnosis, or treatment by a qualified physician, obstetrician-gynecologist, pelvic health specialist, physiotherapist, mental health professional, or other licensed healthcare provider.
Always seek professional medical advice regarding symptoms, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, a medical condition, injury, treatment, medication, or any health-related decision. Do not disregard or delay professional medical advice because of information provided by the App.
2. Not a Medical Device
Pelva is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, cure, mitigate, treat, monitor, or prevent any disease or medical condition.
Timers, pelvic floor tests, progress scores, exercise results, streaks, recommendations, and other information generated by the App are wellness estimates based on user input and activity. They are not clinical measurements and are not designed to replace medical testing or professional assessment.
A pelvic floor or Kegel test in the App does not clinically measure muscle strength, muscle tone, coordination, neurological function, urinary or bowel function, sexual function, pelvic organ support, fertility, pregnancy health, postpartum recovery, or any other medical condition.
3. Consult a Healthcare Professional Before Use
Consult a qualified healthcare professional before beginning or continuing exercises in the App, particularly if you:
- Are pregnant, may be pregnant, recently gave birth, are recovering from a vaginal or cesarean birth, or experienced pregnancy or birth complications;
- Have pelvic, abdominal, groin, vulvar, vaginal, rectal, or back pain;
- Have pain during urination, bowel movements, sexual activity, or pelvic floor contractions;
- Have difficulty starting urination, incomplete bladder emptying, urinary retention, or a sudden change in bladder or bowel control;
- Have blood in your urine or stool, or unexplained vaginal bleeding;
- Have fever, a suspected urinary or pelvic infection, unusual discharge, swelling, numbness, weakness, or loss of sensation;
- Have recently undergone gynecological, obstetric, pelvic, abdominal, or urinary surgery;
- Currently use a urinary catheter or have been given individual pelvic health instructions;
- Have a diagnosed pelvic floor disorder, pelvic organ prolapse, cardiovascular condition, respiratory condition, neurological condition, or musculoskeletal injury;
- Have been advised to avoid physical exercise or pelvic floor contractions;
- Are uncertain whether an exercise is appropriate for you.
Follow the individual advice of your healthcare provider even when it differs from information shown in the App.
4. Stop Exercising if Symptoms Occur
Begin gently and never exercise through pain.
Stop the activity immediately if you experience pain, increasing discomfort, cramping, dizziness, faintness, nausea, unusual shortness of breath, chest pain, numbness, weakness, vaginal bleeding, loss of bladder or bowel control, difficulty urinating, or any other concerning symptom.
If symptoms persist, worsen, or return, do not resume training until you have consulted a qualified healthcare professional.
Seek emergency medical assistance immediately if you experience severe or sudden pain, chest pain, fainting, severe breathing difficulty, inability to urinate, significant bleeding, signs of a serious allergic reaction, or any symptom that you believe may constitute an emergency. Do not rely on the App in an emergency.
5. Pelvic Floor and Kegel Exercises
Pelvic floor exercises may not be appropriate for everyone. Pelvic floor symptoms may result from weakness, excessive tension, poor coordination, injury, infection, pregnancy or childbirth-related changes, neurological conditions, or other causes that require different approaches.
Performing contractions too strongly, too frequently, or without fully relaxing between repetitions may cause fatigue, discomfort, or worsening symptoms.
You should:
- Contract only as instructed and avoid unnecessary straining;
- Continue breathing normally unless an exercise specifically directs otherwise;
- Avoid tightening your abdomen, thighs, or buttocks excessively;
- Fully relax the pelvic floor between contractions;
- Stop if contractions cause pain or worsen urinary, bowel, pelvic, or sexual symptoms;
- Seek professional assessment if you cannot identify, contract, or relax the pelvic floor muscles.
Do not routinely practise pelvic floor contractions by stopping and restarting urine flow, as this may interfere with normal bladder emptying. Guidance from Cambridge University Hospitals emphasizes breathing normally, fully relaxing between contractions, and avoiding excessive exercise.
Pregnancy and postpartum needs vary. Follow the advice of your obstetric or pelvic health professional, particularly after a cesarean birth or complications. See American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists guidance for general postpartum exercise information.
6. Mobility and Physical Exercise
Mobility, stretching, and strength exercises involve physical exertion and carry a risk of soreness, strain, falls, or injury.
Use a safe, stable exercise area. Follow equipment instructions and use appropriate resistance. Do not perform an exercise if required equipment is unavailable or damaged.
Exercise demonstrations are general examples. They cannot account for your anatomy, mobility, pregnancy or postpartum status, injuries, medical history, or technique. Stop if you cannot perform an exercise with controlled movement and without pain.
7. Breathing and Stress-Control Exercises
Breathing exercises are intended for general relaxation and wellness. They are not treatments for anxiety disorders, panic attacks, asthma, cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, sleep disorders, or other conditions.
Do not intentionally hyperventilate or hold your breath longer than is comfortable. Stop if you become dizzy, light-headed, short of breath, distressed, or unwell.
Do not perform guided breathing exercises while driving, swimming, bathing, operating machinery, or during any activity requiring your full attention.
8. Lifestyle Challenges
Lifestyle challenges relating to sleep, smoking, alcohol, nutrition, stress, or other habits are educational and motivational only.
They are not medical treatment or addiction care. Abruptly stopping alcohol or certain substances may be dangerous for people with physical dependence. Consult an appropriate healthcare professional before making significant changes if dependence, withdrawal, medication interactions, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or an existing medical condition may be involved.
9. Automated and Personalized Content
Plans, reminders, recommendations, template answers, AI-assisted content, and personalized suggestions may be generated automatically from general rules, account activity, or information you provide.
Such content may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or unsuitable for your circumstances. It must not be used as the sole basis for a medical or safety decision.
The App does not continuously monitor your health and cannot detect emergencies, pregnancy or postpartum complications, incorrect technique, injury, or deterioration in your condition.
10. Results Are Not Guaranteed
Individual results vary. We do not guarantee improvements in urinary or bowel control, sexual function, pelvic comfort, confidence, stamina, pain, muscle strength, fertility, pregnancy or postpartum outcomes, pelvic organ prolapse, medical outcomes, or quality of life.
Progress shown in the App reflects recorded activity and self-reported information. It does not establish that a physiological or medical improvement has occurred.
11. Age and Ability to Consent
Pelva is intended for adults aged 18 or older. By using the App, you confirm that you are legally able to consent to its use and understand the health and exercise risks described in this disclaimer.
12. Acceptance
By selecting “I Agree,” starting an exercise, or continuing to use Pelva, you acknowledge that:
